CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION

The Everett Police Department Criminal Investigation Division (CID) investigates criminal activities that occur in the City of Everett or have an effect on the City of Everett and it’s residents.

The CID’s  Detectives are assigned to both the Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU) and the Special Criminal Investigations Unit (SCIU) and they work closely with investigators from other local, state and federal agencies and regularly share personnel resources and information. CID personnel are also affiliated with several taskforces that have been established to address specific types of crimes such as narcotics distribution. CID personnel regularly carry caseloads that involve crimes such as, burglaries, housebreaks, bank robberies, MV theft, computer/cyber crime, larceny, financial crimes as well as warrant apprehension and follow up on domestic violence and sexual assault cases.

A Detective is assigned to handle all sex offender registry issues as well as the follow up of all missing persons.

Special Criminal investigations Unit (SCIU)

The SCIU mission is to suppress overt and covert drug dealing, prostitution and other types of crimes of a sensitive nature. The SCIU accomplishes their mission by targeting street level and midlevel drug dealing though the use of undercover Officers, Confidential Informants, and decoys. The unit is additionally involved with taskforces at the federal level, which are comprised of Officers from other local and state agencies. Additionally, Detectives of the unit assist other agencies in their efforts to address cross-border drug distribution in neighboring communities. Currently, there are three Detectives and one Sergeant assigned to the unit. One Detective is assigned full time to the DEA task force.
