MARINE UNIT

 COMMAND OBJECTIVES:

·         SAFETY - Eliminate deaths, injuries, and personal property damage associated with commercial marine vessels and recreational boating.

·         SECURITY - Maintain a ready security presence in and about the sensitive commercial waterfront property of Everett. Ensure the safe passage to and off loading of LNG and other petroleum tanker vessels in Everett waters.

·         PROTECTION OF NATURAL RESOURCES - Eliminate actual and potential environmental damage associated with oil and hazardous material spills from commercial and private sources that impact Everett waters.

·         WATERWAYS MANAGEMENT - Minimize interruptions and impediments to the economical commercial movement of goods and people, while maximizing public recreational access to, and enjoyment of, the water.

·         PROMOTE DEVELOPMENT - Assist other City departments in promoting the economic development of commercial and recreational waterfront resources.

   DIVISION RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Enforce applicable City, State and Federal Laws pertaining to the waterways of Everett

·         Direct response activities to all marine law enforcement, accident, medical and pollution incidents.

·         Maintain a waterfront presence during peak recreational boating season.

·         Investigate all casualties and pollution incidents.

·         Enforce Harbor Master Regulations

·         Provide a means of transport for the departments "Special Operations Unit" in delivering waterfront security to sensitive commercial operations.

·         Provide a means of transport and a stable platform to assist firefighters and firefighting equipment in combating marine fires.

·         Provide mutual aid to other local, state and federal agencies in support of their missions as requested.
