 Phishing E-Mail's:

Another example of fraudulent e-mails being circulated, which are attempting to lure people to follow a website link and leave their personal information. This e-mail is sent under the name of Regions Bank.

Sample Fraudulently E-mail:

Dear client of the Regions Bank,

Technical services of the Regions Bank are carrying out a planned software upgrade. We earnestly ask you to visit the following link to start the procedure of confirmation of customers' data.

https: /online.regions.com/ibsregions/cmserver/users/default/confirm.cfm

We present our apologies and thank you for co-operating. Please do not answer this email-follow the instruction given above. This instruction has been sent to all bank customers and is obligatory to follow.

This is the text of the email. In many of these phishing emails the text is identical to this one but the design and institutional names vary. Regions Bank is a Southern United States financial institution covering Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, North and South Carolina, and Florida. You'll notice that the email specifically states, "Please do not answer this email"--well of course not, they do not want Regions to be alerted. Instead, by clicking the link you are redirected to the fraudulent site. Do Not Be Fooled by the official looking website. As we teach in the Identity Theft seminar, your bank or any bank for that matter will not be making changes in this manner. If by chance an email or postal letter arrives and it is allegedly sent by an institution that you happen to do business with, check with them first--make sure it is legitimate.
